Details of 2Pac Biopic Revealed

Details of 2Pac Biopic Revealed

Details have emerged regarding the upcoming Tupac Shakur biopic. Fans have been clamoring for the film for years and script details have finally been released about the highly-anticipated film.

Oscar-nominated screenwriters Stephen J. Rivele and Chris Wilkinson have been hired to write the Shakur biopic, which means the Antoine Fuqua-directed film could begin shooting by mid-November. (No cast yet; Fuqua is looking for an unknown to play the late rapper.)

While the writing partners are known for adapting true lives and stories -- they also worked on the Moneyball script, and an upcoming Jackie Robinson story -- Wilkinson tells Vulture that the key to this script is an approach that "is not in any way biopic-y." That's a big change in direction for the project. An initial draft written by Steven Bagatourian (2005's American Gun) was largely documentary in style, simply laying out the facts of the slain rapper-poet-actor's brief 25-year life. But Wilkinson says that their script will center on the last day of Tupac's life, flashing back to show the final four years leading up to it.

Jay-Z To Host At NY Public Library

The day before his memoir, Decoded, is released, Jay-Z will host a discussion about the book at the New York Public Library. Jay-Z will discuss his memoir "Decoded" on Nov. 15. Hov isn't the first recording artist-turned-lecturer to appear in the library. The library has hosted several musicians before, including members of the Velvet Underground and David Byrne of Talking Heads.

Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones will be featured at the New York Public Library a few days before Jay-Z is set to host.

The Brooklyn legend will be releasing a 336-page book which combines lyrics, interviews with loved ones, and memoir. Although it has been in the works for some time, the tome will not come out until November 16, the day after Jay gives his talk.

Pharrell Suing Clothing Company

Producer Fighting To Keep Brand Name

Pharrell Suing Clothing Company

Rapper/Producer Pharrell Williams is suing clothing company Ice and Iceberg for trademark infringement. The court battle pits Williams' Ice Cream clothing line against the Gilmare group that owns Ice and Iceberg.

Pharrell is suing the Gilmare Group because the company has blocked a trademark application for the rapper's Ice Cream clothing line. Gilmare believes that Pharrell's brands name is too similar to their own and could confuse customers.

Williams' lawyers contend that the word "cream" - meaning, in this case, money - "creates a vastly different sound, appearance, meaning and overall commercial impression."

Iceberg, founded in 1962, opened its first New York showroom in 1991. Pharrell Williams launched his Ice Cream collection in 2004, along with his other brand, Billionaire Boys Club.

Black Rob Puts Diddy On Blast

Former Bad Boy rapper Black Rob recently fired back at Diddy's recent claims that he had never wronged any of his artists. The rapper didn't allege that Diddy had done anything disreputable regarding money, but he did reveal that the mogul doesn't really care about his artists. Rob told ThisIs50 that Diddy stole his artist G-Dep and also never supported him during his many stints in prison.

"As far as all the people at Bad Boy, nobody reached out to me [when I was in jail] because all it takes is the press of a button, department of corrections, you know my name and birthday, I used to work here," Black Rob said in an interview. "When I heard this n*gga went to see [Lil] Wayne in jail and you ain't come and see BR? After all the years we spent together? Like, that sh*t didn't mean nothing to you, dawg? You actually think I'm not your man?"

"So that right there, told me, that n*gga was never my man. You had like 50 employees, you ain't even have to write the letter -- Puff wasn't the one doing the records with me, he was just the last word. 'Good record. I like that, I wanna get on that.' He's not in the studio, 20 hours, 15 hours with me, never. It wasn't no love over there man. It wasn't no love. Dudes was just using, just trying to use me...They used [my album] The Black Rob Report as a spring board for the Biggie duet album. Puff wasn't doing nothing. He ain't have no records out. It was dry, everybody was going."

Rapper Declines Offers to Work With Stars

Wiz Khalifa On Rick Ross & Drake

Wiz Khalifa declined to align his budding stardom with two of the biggest names in Hip-Hop, Rick Ross and Drake. The Pittsburgh native, who was already signed to Atlantic Records, said that he still would have continued to decline signing with Ross.

“I would’ve kept doing what I was doing till I found something huge [outside of Maybach Music]. I’m all about standing behind my own brand instead of putting myself up under somebody else’s,” he told VIBE. “[Success] might take a little bit longer and take more work, but in the end it pays off because I can stand right up there with my peers and have respect.”

Earlier this month, Drake offered Khalifa an opportunity to tour, but Khalifa passed on the "Lightdreams and Nightmares" tour. “I never really had too many cosigns…or no one let me know that I was on their radar, so for me, all of this is cool and lets me know that I need to keep doing what I’m doing,” he said. "But I’m not too focused on that. I don’t do what I do just to get recognition from everybody. That’s just extra to me.”

Khalifa will soon embark on his own Waken Baken tour.
